Hausa drum kurkutu Nigeria

The kalangu (hourglass shaped talking drum) drummers are accompanied by one player of the kurkutu drum, whose role is to sustain a basic rhythm in kalangu-kurkutu ensembles. The kurkutu drum is suspended from the neck at chest hight and played with two flexible leather beaters.
